DIY Spice Mixes

This is a time saver.  Not only because these mixes are so easy to make but because they save time while cooking.  I store them in recycled glassware - an old minced garlic jar or salsa jar but anything that suits you is fine.  These mixes are easily doubled, tripled, etc.
Grilled Chicken Seasoning
1 Tbsp. Salt
1 Tbsp. Paprika
1 Tbsp. Garlic Powder
1 tsp. Chili Powder

Eggs
2 Tbsp. Salt
1/2 Tbsp. Pepper
1 1/2 tsp. Turmeric

Be sure to mix this one very well before using.

Tacos
This is from Heart, Hands, Home.  She has a bunch of other mixes, as well, but most are not GF.

Oatmeal
Okay, this is not really a spice mix, but I like it so I'm adding it to the list. :)
I also got this mix from Heart, Hands, Home.  I could not find gluten free maple flavoring so I simply omitted it and the mix still turned out great.

Note **** Most Celiacs CANNOT tolerate oats - even Certified Gluten Free Oats :(.  I am not able to eat this (I found out the hard way...) but my husband, who is gluten free but not Celiac, loves it.

It's funny how saving a few simple steps (grab the salt, open the salt, sprinkle the salt...you get it...) can make cooking easier.

Enjoy!

  1. I really need to do this, especially the taco seasoning one. I make chicken tacos weekly and would so prefer to use my own spice mix.
