Summer Workboxes and an Announcement

A couple of weeks ago I posted on why we homeschool year round.  Today I'll tell you what we're doing.

BibleMy Read and Rhyme Bible Storybook
MathMath U See Primer
PhonicsPhonics Pathways
Literature: Library Trips - they pick
Handwriting:  We did do some workbooks but completed them quickly.  They spend so much free time writing and drawing I decided that was sufficient.
Summer BridgeABCmouse.com.  We signed up for the 30 day free trial and LOVE IT!  You can set up as many as three users which is perfect for us and set the grade level for each one.  It only goes up to 2nd level Kindergarten which makes this summer the perfect time for us to do this.  It covers every general pre-school and kindergarten skill you can think of and is only $8 a month (not per kid!) after your free trial.  We'll continue this until we start "real school" in August.

We also started our workboxes this summer so we'd be familiar with the concept by August.  We have three each right now and will add more as needed.

My sweet and computer savvy husband made the awesome labels for me.  I got my workboxes at Wal-Mart for cheap!  It was about $12 for a three tier shelf that will stack.

The three drawers we have now are:

General: This is where the boys' pencil cases with pencil, dry erase marker, scissors and glue stick go.  Also, their Elementary Daily Learning Notebook by one of my favorite bloggers, Erica, from Confessions of a Homeschooler.

Workbooks:  Dry Erase Handwriting board and well, workbooks :)

Primer: Their book as well as any manipulatives they will need for that lesson.

Bible and Literature are read at night so no workboxes are needed.

Phonics is one book we share so I keep that in my teacher basket with my lesson planner, etc, and obviously ABC Mouse is online.

As for the announcement, I'll let the boys tell you...
