This recipe can be made GF or not, you pick the bread!
Growing up, one of my favorite snacks was cinnamon toast. As a mom, I learned the health benefits of cinnamon and it just made sense to continue on this traditional family snack.
I have fond memories of climbing up onto the counter to retrieve the jar with a red and white gingham lid. My mom mixed cinnamon with table sugar and sprinkled it on buttered toast but I found with a few adjustments, I could adapt this treat to our family's food needs.
You'll need:
Toast (GF or Not)
Coconut Oil (works best at a room temperature consistency...don't melt it!)
Cinnamon and Organic Sugar mix (about 70/30)*
*you can substitute Xylitol or Stevia for sugar but I have not done it yet so I cannot suggest a measurement
1. Make your toast and spread a thick layer of coconut oil.
2. Sprinkle Cinnamon mix
3. Serve warm and make memories :)
Another variation would be to add some chia seeds in addition to the Cinnamon mix. A little treat just got more nutritious!
Tip: If you are doing this with kids, sprinkle chia seeds first and then the cinnamon mix. Yes, I slip a lot of things into my boys' diet undetected ;).
